Granpa Goes to Kansas City with Luke & Nickolas

Grandpa may be getting older but he sure had a great time in Kansas City MO with his two special grand boys this week! Radu & Kendall had to attend a wedding of one of Radu's best friends and Grandpa flew up to play nanny and what a job that was! I had the boys all to myself and found that both have very different personalities. Luke is a thinker and is always in motion. He speaks a language of his own. He is very much into trucks and moving parts and loves Barney...really loves Barney!
Nicholas loves life and loves his brother and is just as happy watching Luke play as he is playing with him. He has a smile that is worth a million dollars and loves to be held. He also likes to rock...my kind of guy! He looks just like Radu in the face.
We enjoyed our time in the downtown area and at the pool. Luke wants an elevator for Christmas next year. I don't know how Santa will work that one out.
Enjoy the pictures!

El Matador # 561

Having had the pleasure of working an assignment in Florida this week, I elected to stay in my old condo. The experience was bitter-sweet and while I always called this my "safe place", it brought back a lot of memories of Kendall and Adam who spent of their summers here growing up. Not much as changed and it was funny how I found things just as I left them. Only a few insignificant things had been moved. It still feels safe. Enjoy the pictures!

What Does March, Millbrook & Snow Have in Common?

Who would have guessed we would be waking up to so much snow this morning! SumSo said he has had enough and is going back inside, while Claire, Hearn and Paul are sticking it out and enjoying the snow. It looks we are going to pick up a few more inches before it passes from our area.
It is beautiful and pretty to look at, but I'm not much of one for getting out in it.

Honeymooner's Celebrate Birthdays!

I wanted to take a moment and wish both Adam and Sarah a very happy birthday! Sarah's birthday was the 13th and Adam's is today, the 18th. It's so hard to believe my little boy is 26 and married!

I wish you both a wonderful week of birthday memories as you celebrate the days together.

Adam: I can still close my eyes and see you as a blond-haired little boy with laugh that could light up any room. There were times I thought your laughter was so hard and deep from within that your toes were going to come out of your mouth! I remember you egging your sister on just to get her attention or to get her to chase you and you loved every minute of it. I can even remember holding you in my arms when you were just a baby about the size of Nicholas. I see so much of Luke in you and watching him is like watch an encore presentation of you all over again. I believe that is why you and Luke share that special bond.

I am so very proud of you son and I wish you nothing but wonderful things in the days and years to come. Always remember that God is beside at all times and you are never alone.

I love you both!
Dad

Paul's Big Day at Basketball!!!

Awesome Basketball Day for Paul!
Paul had his first basketball game for Sugarberry's and while I went with great expectations, I must admit I left with entire different perspective of what the team and true spirit of sports is really all about.
Paul is excellent at making a shot but weak at dribbling and making a shot. His coach has worked with him and truly made a difference in is ability of doing both and as I watch him play I was more proud of him then ever. He has improved to far greater than I could imagine and hope for.
More important was the way the game was played. Both teams supported each other. Winning was not the most important thing. Playing the game was and supporting each, regardless of their disability, was the most important. I don't think any one really knew the final score at the end.
What a pleasure it was to watch the game in a different way and with other families with children with disabilities. We all cheered for everyone, regardless of the team and the outcome did not matter. What a difference our world would be if we practiced the same in everything we did.
Paul, you were outstanding today! I know you enjoyed the call the call from Kendall and Jack. They love you so very much.
Love you,
Ken

Picture Is Worth A 1,000 Words...

I know the shot is not clear, but this morning when I went out to add some water to the fountain I noticed the bird's head looking out of the birdhouse. I walked back in and got the camera and was only able to get this one shot.
I wish it were clearer, but I loved the picture and wondered if it was Ethel since it is the Auburn birdhouse! I think I will just believe it is anyway.

Our Trip To Nasville - Christmas 2008

These are just are few shots taken on our trip to Nashville. I love the look on Luke's face on the train! It's priceless!

We had a great time at Opryland Mills Mall and the Rainforest's Cafe with all the jungle animals. Nicholas just slept through most of it.
We made it home and are getting ready for back-to-normal week! It's hard to believe it's 2009!

Radu...This One Is Just For You!!!!!

Dearest Radu:

The pictures are a sneak preview of what is coming your way! Becky Marie has been wrashed and is all ready to be displayed in your new office as a symbol of success, love and free-bird spirit! Becky Marie has all done time in our homes, but now it is your turn to share in her magic and warmth.

Your patients will love seeing her your office along with the 3 feet x 5 feet photo's of your favorite family members displayed next to her. As the word spreads through Nashville and your appointments increase, you have no one to thank but Beck Marie!

Just as in the movie "Miracle on 34th Street" when the little little girl said "every time you hear a bell, an angel got his wings", you can now say, for every root canal, "Becky Marie laid a golden egg".

Enjoy and treasure her! She is special and a gift from some special people that love you!

Love,

Dad, Ellie Mae, Thelma Jean

Adam & Sarah were married on Saturday, December 13, 2008 in Mentone, Alabama at The Preston House. It was a lovey ceremony and both the bride and groom were excited and ready for the day! A reception followed the wedding and guests enjoyed both the bride's cake and groom's cake along with a number of other wonderful food items. Adam & Sarah are spending their honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and they will return to Birmingham where they will reside.
